I started drawing out the comic. It's neet and everything, but there are two problems. One, is that Logan ate my inking pen a while back so I have to buy a new one.

The other is that after the computer was stripped, the scanner's software was deleted, and since you can't buy seperate software (apparently), we need a new scanner.

Or it may just be an excuse to buy a new scanner, which is perfectly fine with me.

Eyes pass slowly across line after line on a screen. Information hardly processed because the reader has just heard the door open, nearly silent. There are footsteps across the floor, leading to the reader.

The steps are silenced, the figure halting, untouching. Fingertips dig into the small machine, clutching it close, smudging the smooth screen with fingertips as muscles tense.

A hand smooths the wrinkles of a jacket that does not belong to it. Muscles in the chest clench as the fingertips, the palms, of another pass the down the body to the hips.

Nails dig into soft skin, digging under jacket and pants to find the sharp angles of bone. This causes another reaction, hands grasping hands, bodies pulled into each other. The grasp on hip bones sharpens, flipping the body around to face the second. A split second, breathing in each other's own exhaled air, and there is no space between them.

Hands are everywhere, grasping, pulling, smoothing clothing before finally tearing it away. Throughout this, lips connect to lips, to necks, to shoulders, to skin. The bodies back against the desk that had been used for studying, one lifted to the tabletop. Legs wrap around another's waist, lips meet again, hands running, exploring the planes of now-familiar bodies.

Clothes lie scattered across the room, unknown to the figures atop the table. The warmth, the feeling of skin on skin, that is enough for now.

Not entirely enough.

Elsewhere, there is a question on the crew's mind that no one voices, perfectly aware that their suspicions, though unproven, are absolutely true..

"What is that?"

"Kitty," Lateef replied, stroking the orange feline back.

Jahi frowned. "I can see that. Why is it here?"

"You told me I could keep one."

The older boy's eyes widened. "You picked the cat?" Jahi suddenly began to see a hole in his earlier plan. "What about the snake? The snake was a good pet. I liked the snake."

"You hated the snake."

"Do not be ridiculous--I loved the snake. The snake was excellent."

Lateef smiled. "You tried to rip off his head once."

"I was... petting him."

"Hmm."

Jahi groaned, sinking down to sit beside his friend, though still far from the cat. "Lateef, I beg of you--take it away. You may have any pet you wish, just not that one."

Lateef raised an eyebrow at him. "Why did you let me pick if you did not like the kitty?"

"I did not think you would pick it!" Jahi scowled at his friend. "You were raving about the snake..."

"Yes, but the snake does not cuddle or sleep next to me or not-bite my face."

Jahi watched the feline stretch languidly along the ground. His hand shot out before he even thought about it.

"AHH!! JAHI!"

"Look! It bit your face! You should give it up."

"It bit my face because you threw it at my head!" Lateef shot back, cradling the frightened creature in his arms.

"It does not matter WHY it did it, only that it happened."

Lateef sighed. "I am keeping the cat, Jahi."

"I do not like the cat, Lateef," Jahi replied.

"I like the cat, Jahi."

"I do not want you to keep the cat, Lateef."

"I do not have to get food for you in the morning, Jahi."

".......The cat will not sleep by me, Lateef."

"Very well, Jahi."

Ahhhh, Jahi and Lateef... what would I do without my boys?

Taking Teki's advice, Nuru now wears a wig. I drew a picture of it that kinda looks like Kirin's interpretation of Lex and Randy, where Lex is holding his hat way above his head and Randy's like, "GYAH! GIVIT!"

Except that Nuru's like, "Huh? What just happened? Oh well..."

Name: Najja. Meaning unknown.

Age: Somewhere between 25 and 30

Parents: Didn’t know his parents. He was fostered by several different families until he was able to care for himself. Parents killed?

Birthplace and circumstances of birth, relationship w/ parents: Not entirely sure where he was born as he is part of a nomadic tribe. Tended to draw away from his sets of foster parents, forgetting about them completely once he left.

Childhood, siblings: Childhood was good. He had many friends and foster siblings. He was big for his age, and very strong. Quickly earned respect as a hunter and as general defense for the tribe. After reaching what his tribe deemed “manhood”, he left and eventually became a trader.

School/kind of education: Taught hunting and defense by his tribe. Learned the art of trading by a mentor, and some of it on his own.

Relationships (friends, enemies, etc.): Oni: very devoted to his wife. He takes her opinions into consideration, but not very often in public. This isn’t usually a problem as Oni doesn’t offer many opinions in public.
Akil: Najja is very proud of his son’s intellectual ability, but tends to sort of ignore Akil when he speaks. He really doesn’t see any use for a lot of what Akil knows. This can lead to a few arguments between them, which are soon forgiven. Najja really respects his son, and vice versa.
Panya: His daughter is young enough that he can really just appreciate her cuteness. She is very intelligent, but since she spends most of her time going, “OOH! LOOKIT!” and then running off, he’ll probably see her as perpetually young even when she’s middle-aged. He recognizes her gift with animals and is thankful for it, considering he does a lot of animal trading. He’s a little closer to her than Akil.
Nuru: He feels pity for Nuru at first, because of his deformity. He tends to treat him more carefully than even his own children, who he knows can take care of themselves. After a while, he finds that Nuru can take care of himself physically, though is pretty naïve about life as a whole. When his own children ignore him, Najja can take care of Nuru.
Jahi: Jahi, quite frankly, is a bit of a pain in the ass. He’s loud, proud, and often too egotistical for his own good. Najja hired Jahi for his ability to fight and defend, sort of a back-up for the care of his family. From time to time, Jahi can be very kind and a good friend to Najja and his family.
Lateef: His innocent exterior made Najja wary about hiring him ((and thus, Jahi, ‘cause they sure as hell weren’t going to be split up)). But after Lateef proved himself to be quick both physically and mentally, as well as good with children, there was no doubt. He finds Lateef and Jahi’s interactions funny, to Jahi’s annoyance, and likes to joke with Lateef ((when no one’s looking)).

Bad habits/Character flaws: His vulnerability lies in the people he cares about, and those are painfully obvious. Anyone who wanted to get to him would only have to threaten his family. Najja is extremely protective.

Physical appearance: About 6’0” to 6’3”. Standard muscle-man look, he has a row of dot tattoos going from the center of his eyes backwards. It ends at the small of his back.

Hair Color: Bald, but it would have been black if he had any.

Eye Color: Black or dark brown.

Disabilities: He’s very obvious with his emotions, which is often the worst possible thing he could do. No physical disabilities.

Jewelry/Ornamentation: Tattoos already explained. He carries weaponry with him, but doesn’t necessarily use it, usually just daggers. During their marriage ceremony, Oni gave him a braided bracelet—green, blue, brown and white.

Class: He is a hunter within his tribe, and a trader in general. His hunting position within his tribe granted him a lot of respect, and as a trader to others, he is also fairly respected.

Rogue/Honest: Very honest, which can be a problem. He’s tactful, but has very high morals that have him speaking out at times. His honesty is what keeps him from seeing what Lateef’s real “gift” is at first.

Soldier/Leader: Leader; Najja will follows others ideas if he agrees with them. He just has an air about him like he is the only one in the world that can save your life.

Merchant/Laborer: Najja looks like, and is often mistaken for, a common laborer, but he actually has a very shrewd mind and makes a very good merchant.

Teacher/Student: Definitely a teacher, with his children and occasionally with the others that work with him. Every once in a while, he takes the semblance of a student as he’s always willing to learn from someone else.

High or Low-born: Doesn’t actually know of his parents, and in his tribe high- or low-born doesn’t really matter. Most people regard him as low-born.

Educated or Ignorant: Educated in the sense of street-smarts, but nothing like we would learn in school today. Lateef and Akil attempt to teach him a few things, but he doesn’t see any use for the knowledge.

Religious/Skeptical: Religious. It’s the only knowledge-related thing he can teach his children and enjoys discussing the topic with them as well as Oni, Lateef and Nuru. He tries to teach Jahi and is severely scorned.

Clothing: He has a pair of waist-high baggy pants and a wide strip of cloth used as a belt. He also has a pair of sandals.

Weaponry: Small daggers and a bow and many arrows, but he usually uses them for hunting and cleaning kills. He’s very good at physical defense and prefers to use his body—he considers that a more fair fight than using weapons.

Powers/abilities, special stuff: His ability to remain honest, no matter what, is often seen as a special ability by Nuru. He often comments on Najja’s “magic”, which really tends to annoy Najja.

Beliefs, what does he know and need to know: He knows that many people aren’t honest, but his default belief is that most people are. He needs to realize that he shouldn’t be putting so much trust into people right away.

What problem, why does this problem hurt?: He needs to learn to deal with the fact that he won’t always be around to keep people safe. He often worries about what will happen when his children go off on their own, and tries to convince them to stay with him. He blames himself when a loved one is hurt.

Fatal Flaw: His constant trust in people only pertains to himself, as he’s way too protective over others to let them do whatever they want without his knowledge. In this way, he often puts himself in danger without thinking about it.

Fears: Someone he loves getting hurt.

Sources of Anger: Threats to others well-being, insults towards his family. Basically, you could insult him all day with no reaction, but if you point to Oni and say "Omiguh she is teh crazy foot!" he'll kick your ass.

Sources of Sadness: His childhood was really very good, so he doesn't have those deep-rooted psychological problems that most people do ((Nuru and Jahi, specifically)). He feels guilty when someone is mistreated and he wasn't there to help, but other than that, not a lot can really bring the guy down. And when he is sad, it's usually gone within a few hours.

Sources of Happiness: Najja's an extremely simple man. He's a popular trader because his prices for things are actually fair. In this way, he's hired a lot but isn't rich in any way. His happiness is directly related to the moods of those around him.

What does he need: He really needs to realize that he can't always be there. That at some point, the people he loves will have to fend for themselves.

Need to Learn: People can take care of themselves, especially if he helps them learn how.

Need to say: "I trust you to take care of yourself."

Emotional Problem: Najja isn't exactly the "tortured soul" sort of persona. His only emotional problem is letting go, which he has an extremely hard time with. The man he worked with before, and lost ((the one Nuru replaced)) brings him a lot of guilt. This could be because the man died or because he was unhappy with working for Najja and left. Both of them would guilt Najja because he would think it was his job to make others content.

I know exactly what he looks like in my head, and this is kind of it. I can't draw masculine-looking men...

Not so many updates coming up. I need to work a little more. Though I am drawing like crazy lately.
